Every source, in one list
This is the complete list of sources cited in The JFK Files, 1,276 of them. The number after each one is the page of the paperback where the claim it supports appears, so you can go from a sentence in the book to the document behind it, or the other way around. Page numbers are taken from the rendered 6×9 interior, the same file that went to print.
The printed edition does not reprint this. That was a decision about paper, not about evidence: the apparatus runs to many pages and the sheet count was better spent on the book. So it lives here, in full, free, for anyone who wants to read past the author.
The documents themselves
The records discussed are drawn from the President John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection, released by the National Archives between March 2025 and January 2026 under the President John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection Act of 1992 and Executive Order 14176. They are public records of the United States government and are freely available at archives.gov/research/jfk. Where the book quotes a document it gives the Record Identification Form number, so the same page can be retrieved directly.
A note on redaction
Some released files carry the home addresses, identification numbers and names of private individuals, and of people who informed on states that still exist. Where that is the case this book says what the document is and does not reproduce what is on the page.
Where a claim rests on measurement
Some claims in this book rest on the reconstruction rather than on a document. Those are not listed below, because they are not works a reader can go and consult. The notes say so at the point of the claim and name what was measured; the model and its limits are described in Chapter Five, How This Was Built. Passages drawn from my own experience, interviews and opinion are marked as such and are not listed here either.
