The short version

This site does not ask who you are. There is no account, no sign-up and no advertising.

What is stored on your device

If you play a chapter, the site remembers which chapter and how far in, so you can pick it up where you left off. That is kept in your own browser's local storage. It never leaves your device and the author cannot see it. Clearing your browser data removes it.

This site sets no cookies of its own for tracking or advertising.

What the server sees

The site is hosted on Cloudflare, and audio is served from Cloudflare R2. As with any web host, requests are logged and may include your IP address, browser type and the pages requested. These logs are used to keep the site running and to see roughly how much traffic there is. They are not used to build a profile of you and are not sold.

Analytics

This site uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people read. Google sets its own cookies for this and receives your IP address. It is used to know whether anyone is reading, nothing more: no advertising features are enabled, no profile is sold, and there is no mailing list. Blocking third-party cookies, or using any content blocker, stops it and changes nothing about how the site works.

The embedded post on the letters page

The letters page embeds one post from X (formerly Twitter). That embed loads code from x.com, and X sets its own cookies and can see that you loaded it, whether or not you have an X account. It is the only third-party embed on this site, and it appears on that one page. If you would rather not load it, the same post is linked as plain text beside it so you can read it on X directly, or skip it.

Third parties

Buying links go to Amazon, which has its own privacy policy and its own tracking. Once you follow one of those links you are on Amazon's site under Amazon's terms.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Your rights

Because the site does not collect personal information, there is generally nothing to access, correct or delete. If you believe otherwise, write to [email protected].
